Chinese Medicine or more broadly East Asian Medicine (including traditional medicine from China, Korea, Japan ect.) is a set of tools that originated in ancient China – perhaps as far back as 5,000 years ago. On a gross level Chinese Medicine consists of acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Chinese massage or tuina, moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, Tai Chi and Qi Gong exercises as well as many other disciplines. Presently East Asian Medicine is growing rapidly in the United States.
The National Institute of Health (NIH) estimated that in 2007 approximately 38% or about 114 million people have used some form of Complimentary and Alternative Medicine (CAM).
